Text Box: Regal/Edwards Spectrum 21 Irvine, California   The Irvine Spectrum Center is widely recognized as one of the premier retail and entertainment centers in the world.  The opening of the first phase of the center was anchored by the 21 screen Edwards Cinema and IMAX.  Originally built as a traditional slope floor complex, the auditoriums were retrofitted to stadium seating approximately 5 years after their opening.    Completed in a phased program with 3-4 auditoriums per phase, the megaplex remained fully operational during the construction.  The determination to use the SSE System was based on the modular nature of the components and their ability to be easily brought into the auditoriums through the pedestrian exit doors and the efficiency by which the general contractor could complete each of the phases.
